Speaker: Norman Grubb
Although Norman's main focus in this study is David, he contrasts this beloved biblical figure with Saul. Despite his sin, David was an instrument whom God was able to use mightily. Saul, on the other hand, lived a life of jealousy, self-justification, deceit, revenge and hatred. Norman cites numerous scriptural examples demonstrating David's persistent choice to see His God in the midst of trials, despite his strong feelings to the contrary.
Norman concentrates on David's faith, and shows where, at a crisis moment, he moved from “the school of faith to the life of faith,” from the “young man” stage to the “fatherhood” level of the faith. This is the lesson that we can learn from David's life versus Saul's: only by trusting God and choosing to see Him in each situation that we face can Christ be free to live out His life in this vessel.
